Understanding Creation: The Importance of a Creator
Have you ever picked up a dictionary and thought about how it came to be? It’s a fun exercise to show this to kids. Imagine telling them that even though it’s organized alphabetically from A to Z, its creation was just a happy accident.
Picture this: in a print shop long ago, there was a massive explosion, and all the letters flew everywhere. When the dust settled, they just happened to land on paper in perfect order!
Sounds ridiculous, right? Let’s dive deeper into this idea.
The Ridiculous Theory of Accidental Creation
Ask your kids what they think about this theory. It’s a great way to spark conversation! If a student looks up the word “create” in the dictionary, they’ll find a definition that emphasizes intention and planning. The only reason the dictionary exists in its current form is that someone carefully crafted it. In other words, it was created with purpose.
Creating with Legos
Now, let’s take it a step further. Grab a box of Legos and shake it up. Proclaim, “I think I want to make a plane!” Watch as the students look on in confusion. After shaking the box and not seeing a plane magically appear, ask them, “What did I do wrong? Why don’t I have a plane?” The answer is simple: it needs a creator. Just like the dictionary, the Legos require someone to put them together.
In the Beginning God
Now, let’s connect this back to the Bible. Have your students repeat after you the first four words of the Bible: “In the beginning God.” These words are foundational. They remind us that God always was, is, and always will be. When we accept these four words as truth, understanding the rest of the Bible becomes easier.
The Significance of Creation
In the beginning, God created the entire world. Once your students grasp this, they’ll find it much easier to believe the words that follow. This is a crucial lesson in understanding our faith and the world around us.
Final Thoughts
As educators, we must remember that props and hands-on experiences can greatly enhance learning. This is Becky from Experience the Bible Creatively, reminding you that using engaging methods is always a better approach. So, let’s keep exploring the wonders of creation and the Creator!
