Bible Memory Verse Game Using Landscape Edging
Hey there! Today, I’m excited to share a fun and unique activity that’s perfect for older students learning a new memory verse. This activity uses landscape edging, which are those interlocking pieces that you might not think of for a Bible lesson, but trust me, they’re fantastic!
Why Landscape Edging?
These interlocking pieces are great because they slide together to create a puzzle. You can write individual words of the verse on each piece, making it a physical and engaging way to learn. Plus, they're sturdy, so you don’t have to worry about them falling apart easily. It’s a bit reminiscent of the Ten Commandment stones, which can add a layer of connection if your memory verse is from Exodus.
Reusable and Versatile
One of the best parts? They’re reusable! Just stick address labels on them to easily replace the words for your next memory verse. This keeps the activity fresh and adaptable for various lessons.
How to Play
Here’s how you can set it up:
- Place the pieces upside down on the floor.
- Challenge students to put them together, maybe even as a team game to see which group can assemble the verse the fastest!
- An alternative is to have these pieces in a basket. Students can work on them during free time, allowing for a casual yet effective learning experience.
Ideal for Older Kids
This activity is especially great for older kids. It can be a bit of a challenge to get the pieces interlocked, which keeps them engaged. Just a heads up, though: the edges can be a little pokey, so remind students to be careful as they work with them.
